Jumping onto the bandwagon of the latest and juiciest newsbreak is a great way to get your company involved in the conversation that (almost) everyone is having.
As great of a strategy that this is, there are pitfalls that you need to be very careful of:
- Be tasteful – deaths, extreme weather events, and politics should be avoided.
- Be respectful – you can very easily find a boot in your mouth with one silly post that gets taken too seriously, make sure that whatever your company has to say about the story is at the very least constructive.
Share an Event
Simply put, as long as you are being useful and posting relevant content you will definitely be an appreciated member of the online community.
That being said, if you see that there is an event that pertains to your industry – share it!
Everybody has FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) every now and again, and if your company can be that beacon of hope that provides the long-awaited invitation… well, it is well on its way to becoming a strong force on that social platform.
Of course, if your company is in a position to host its own events that is even better and that should definitely be factored into your marketing budget.
If not, checking to see if there is any way to work collaboratively with the hosts of the event would not be a bad idea either!
Remember, the worst thing that they can say is no.
Behind The Scenes
This strategy will work in any industry, guaranteed.
Showing your audience what it is really like before all of the edits, effects, and “studio magic” takes place shows transparency – transparency builds trust, which will always lead to more sales!
If you are going to use this strategy, make sure you follow these guidelines:
- Keep the workspace clean
- Show the best of the best
- Jokes are definitely allowed
Remember, behind the scenes is just that – it does not have to perfect! It just has to remain on brand with your company’s mission and values.
